Dr. Injy Johnstone

Injy is the International Director at Carbon Balance Initiative and a Research Fellow in Net-Zero Aligned Offsetting at the University of Oxford. She holds a PhD in international environmental and trade law, exploring how net zero is shaping new legal norms, particularly around the integrity of carbon markets. A qualified lawyer, Injy has worked across public, private, and third-sector climate initiatives, including with the Global Center for Adaptation and New Zealand’s Ministry for the Environment.

She serves on multiple expert groups, including at the UNFCCC, GHG Protocol, SBTi and as a lead author of the State of CDR Report, Oxford Offsetting Principles and Oxford Principles for Article 6.

In her free time, Injy enjoys seeking out good coffee with friends, exploring off the beaten track & trying out new hobbies.
