Mirte Boot
Mirte is the UK Director at Carbon Balance Initiative and a Research Associate at Oxford Net Zero. Her work focuses on ‘polluter pays’ frameworks, carbon storage and removal policy, and transition pathways for hard-to-abate sectors like oil and gas. She has over a decade of climate policy experience, from co-managing the responsible investment NGO Follow This to working in the UK Civil Service and co-chairing Labour for the Long Term, aiming to advise policymakers on resilience and long-term policy thinking. Mirte holds a Master of Public Policy from Oxford and is a Fellow of the Strategic Climate Risk Initiative.
In her free time, Mirte enjoys climbing mountains, dancing in fields, and political debates in the pub.
Mirte’s current nerdy topic in net zero: aviation sector mandates.
